In the search for double beta decay of 160Gd, the world's most sensitive experiment was performed in Ukraine in 2001 using Gd2SiO5 (GSO) scintillator. However, the sensitivity is limited by the presence of a large amount of alpha rays due to internal radioactive impurities as background. Our research group has been working on the Gd3Ga3Al2O12:Ce (GAGG) scintillator, which has been reported to have excellent pulse shape discrimination (PSD) capability. C&A's GAGG series includes HR-GAGG, which achieves high energy resolution by controlling the Ga/Al ratio, and GFAG, which achieves fast decay time by adding a small amount of Mg. In this study, we report a comparison of the PSD performance of these scintillators.
