In fabrication of a superconducting joint between Bi-2223 tapes that we previously reported, pressure of uniaxial pressing prior to sintering can be an important parameter to achive high Ic. This is because high-pressure pressing is probabaly effective to improve grain coupling at the joint interfaces although it may cause the mechanical damage to the filaments of tapes. In this study, we optimized pressure of uniaxial pressing to establish a strategy for control of Ic.
