Suppression of interface recombination is indispensable for improving the performances of semiconductor devices. For CIGS solar cells, it is predicted from device simulation that the impacts of recombination at back contact will increase as the crystal quality improves. In this study, we introduced an AlOx passivation film into a thin CIGS solar cell and examined its effects. We will present the results for the solar cells with thin absorbers, where impact of recombination at back contact is crucial.
