▼ [23a-E205-3] Sm-Co-based amorphous alloy films for zero-field transverse thermoelectric generation
Keywords:Thermoelectric permanent magnets, anomalous Nernst effect, Lock-in thermography
Using combinatorial material science and lock-in thermography we have systematically investigated the composition dependence anomalous Ettingshausen effect (AEE) for SmxCo1-x (0 ≤ x ≤ 100) composition-spread amorphous films and confirmed Sm20Co80 show largest AEE induced temperature modulation. We further demonstrated that the AEE in Sm20Co80 can be improved by systematically replacing Co with Fe by preparing Sm20(Co1-yFey)80 (0 ≤ y ≤ 100) composition spread films and determined Sm20(Co77Fe23)80 composition exhibits largest AEE in these alloys. The presence of high in-plane remanent magnetization and coercive force in our films makes it advantageous over conventional materials for applications including heat flux sensors, as these materials can generate thermoelectric output without an external magnetic field. Importantly, these amorphous films can be fabricated on any surfaces including flexible substrate which makes it suitable candidate for wearable flexible thermoelastic devices.
