VCSELs using CdSe/ZnS core-shell colloidal quantum dots (QDs) were fabricated by solution-process. This is a simple fabrication method in which colloidal quantum dots are coated on a dielectric multilayer mirror and sandwiched between the mirrors. In the previous study, the laser oscillation was not clearly observed by CW laser pumping. This time, we used femtosecond pulsed laser excitation and observed the oscillation threshold. It is indicating that the femtosecond laser makes it possible to suppress Auger recombination, and the laser oscillation was clearly observed.
