[23p-D113-2] [The 51st Young Scientist Presentation Award Speech] Transparent Acoustic Metamaterial Sheets with Periodically Arranged Lightweight Plastic Masses
Keywords:acoustic metamaterial, sound insulation, finite-element analysis
For conventional sound insulation sheets, it is challenging to simultaneouly achieve sound insulation and weight reduction according to the traditional mass law. Recently, we have developed a novel flexible acoustic metamaterial sheet that has periodically arranged cylindrical rubber stubs with embedded metallic masses on a thin rubber sheet and shows high sound insulation performance beyond the mass law. In this presentation, we report more lightweight and transparent polymer sheets with periodically arranged plastic masses with no metals, which are designed to broaden the applicability of acoustic metamaterial sheets.
