Keywords:Cu2O solar cells, Tandem Photovoltaics, Top cell

We are developing low-cost solar cells with efficiencies of over 30%. The target solar cells are four-probe tandem solar cells composed of Cu2O top cells and Si bottom cells. Key device is a transparent Cu2O top cell. Transparent Cu2O solar cell is firstly developed by our group in 2019. Milestone targets of power conversion efficiency (PCE) and transmittance for realizing 30% efficient tandem photovoltaics are 10% and 80%, respectively. We reached the PCE of transparent Cu2O solar cell to 8.4%, the world’s highest level for a reported Cu2O solar cell.
