We have recently reported that 1,3,6,8-tetrakis(methylthio)pyrene (MT-pyrene), crystallizes into a new type of the brickwork structure and shows high carrier mobility. Here, a systematic study was performed on the effect of other methylchalcogeno substitution of pyrene on the crystal structure and transport properties. Changing the sulfur atoms of MT-pyrene to oxygen and selenium (MO- and MS-pyrene, respectively) resulted in closely related brickwork structures, but with rather poor charge transport properties compared to MT-pyrene. In the presentation, I will discuss the subtle differences in molecular and crystal structures of these materials and effects of these differences on the charge transport properties.
