Cortisol is a steroid hormone and a known biomarker for stress. Quantitative measurement of cortisol can diagnose chronics stress and other disorders in the early stages. In this presentation, we investigate the development of a non-biological molecular imprinted polymer (MIP) biosensor based on reduced graphene oxide, beta-cyclodextrin, polypyrrole as a sensor electrode for electrochemical detection and determination of cortisol in biological samples. Cyclodextrin and its ability to create host-guest interactions, coupled with imprinted polypyrrole MIP, are used for recognition and measurement of cortisol. The method and materials discussed can be used as a template for developing affordable and point-of-care sensors for other biomarkers.
