Surface phonon-polariton (SPhP) is generated via hybridization of optical phonons and electromagnetic waves, localized at the interface of absorbent materials. In this research, we analyzed SPhP propagation in a three-layer system consisting of a non-absorbent Si layer sandwiched by absorbent SiO₂ nanolayers. It has been believed that SPhP is only localized at the interfaces, but we found that SPhP excited in SiO₂ nanolayers couple with resonant guided modes of Si and propagate mainly through the non-absorbent Si layer.
