[24p-E303-4] Perfect Absorption in Hybrid Silicon Metasurfaces

Dielectric Mie resonators can support electric dipole (ED) and magnetic dipole (MD) modes. We can achieve perfect absorption if radiative losses of the ED and MD modes match material loss. A crystalline silicon absorber has an absorbance of 60% in the red visible light region because the crystalline silicon is almost lossless. We add a lossy amorphous silicon cap layer to enhance the material loss. A hybrid silicon perfect absorber is achieved in the red visible light region. We also fabricated a sample. The measured absorbance of the sample is 74%, which is consistent with the simulation considering the fabrication errors.
