The nonequilibrium and coupling between electron and phonon at the vicinity of metal/dielectric interfaces are pivotal for energy transport in metal/insulator superlattice and can be used for phonon engineering. Here, we directly solve the coupled Boltzmann transport equation of electron and phonon in the metal/dielectric superlattice with the fully Monte Carlo system simulation. The modal-level inputs are extracted from the first-principles calculation. The results suggest that although the TTM can give a similar prediction with fully coupled simulations at the diffusive limit, it overpredicts the effective thermal conductivity at the ballistic limit. We also highlight the importance of model-level electron-phonon coupling on the coupling length in the vicinity of the metal/dielectric interfaces. The work establishes the necessity of coupled Boltzmann transport formulations for the nonequilibrium energy transport.
