ZnO have been found as alternative potential metal semiconductors for photocatalysis activity due to its high surface reactivity, higher efficiency, and strong oxidation power to degrade organic compounds [1]. Graphene-containing nanocomposites can improve the light absorption and the adsorption of reactants and extend the charge carrier of ZnO. Graphene has unique properties which make it an ideal material for photonic and optoelectronic devices as it can provide a large surface area, high chemical stability, and superior electrical conductivity [2]. However, there are very few studies that demonstrate the effect of ZnO on the photocatalytic performances of graphene composites. In this study, the influence of ZnO on the photocatalytic performance of graphene composites has been discussed. To choose the ZnO structure, annealing was performed at 1000°C with the presence of N2 gas and without annealing ZnO were also used. Graphene was deposited onto the ZnO surface in both cases. The graphene sheets were synthesized by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on a copper foil and ZnO thin film was prepared by reactive magnetron sputtering. Fig-1(a) shows, the raman spectrum of the graphene transferred onto the annealed ZnO thin film to understand the graphene transferred onto the film is successful or not. The PMMA supported cu etching methods were used to transfer the graphene. The peak of graphene and 2D shows that the graphene transferred onto the ZnO film was successful. From Fig-1(b), it can be observed that the graphene with annealed ZnO film at 1000°C shows more photocatalytic activities than the graphene without annealing ZnO thin film. We expect the annealing of ZnO as well as surface area and number of layers of graphene affects the photocatalytic activity of graphene.
