[24p-P01-4] Anomalous Nernst effects in TbCo and GdCo alloys
Keywords:Anomalous Nernst effect, Rare earth transition metal alloy
Thermoelectric power generation technology using waste heat is becoming more and more important. In particular, the anomalous Nernst effect is expected to be applied to flexible devices because the sample structure is simpler and thinner than the Seebeck effect. However, its power generation efficiency is not high enough. Therefore, we focused on amorphous rare-earth transition metal alloys, which can be deposited at room temperature and have low substrate selectivity, for the application to flexible devices. Among the rare earth elements, Tb and Gd show similar physical properties. However, their orbital angular momenta are very different due to the difference in the number of 4f electrons. In this study, we investigated the influence of 4f electrons by studying the anomalous Nernst effect in TbCo and GdCo.
