Photonic crystal nanocavities have been expected to develop high-sensitivity sensors due to their various advantages. We have found that a silicon Raman laser using a high-Q nanocavity stops oscillating when exposed to ionic space charge. Space charge is a cause of explosions in chemical plants and malfunctions in spacecrafts, and there is a demand for detection of space charge because there is no device that can detect it. In this paper, we report on our experiments to confirm the evidence of the laser oscillation stopping mechanism.
