[25a-D113-5] Application of Quantum PET: Positronium Lifetime in Stable Radical Aqueous Solution
Keywords:Positron emission tomography, Free radical, Positron lifetime measurement
Quantum PET (Q-PET) is a new imaging principle that uses positronium (Ps) as a biomarker. In this study, we performed the most basic experiments to verify whether Q-PET can detect radiation-induced free radicals. The Ps lifetimes in stable radical aqueous solutions were investigated using a pair of time-of-flight (TOF) PET detectors. The Ps lifetime became shorter when the radical concentration in the solution was high and longer when it was low. We found that the TOF PET detectors could observe these correlations.
