Keywords:laser chaos, Allan variance, low frequency fluctuation

A systematic and unified method for the detection and evaluation of complex chaotic phenomena called low-frequency fluctuation (LFF) exhibited by semiconductor lasers has not yet been established, and a new method for automatic identification is desired from the viewpoint of progress in fundamental research, evaluation of optical devices, and creation of new system principles. In this study, we introduced the Allan variance, which is an index that can be directly and stably evaluated from time series data, and showed that it can stably identify LFF.
