We have developed a Kerr-lens mode-locked Tm-doped sesquioxide lasers toward sub-100 fs pulse generation at 2 μm wavelength range. Using a Tm:Sc2O3 single crystal and a Tm:Lu2O3 ceramic, pulses as short as 72 fs and 61 fs were obtained, respectively. Furthermore, using a combined gain media composed with both materials, we have successfully achieved the shortest pulse duration of 41 fs.
