[25a-E102-8] Observation of Field Electron and Ion Microscope Images Showing Electron Orbitals at Graphene Edges

Carbon nanotubes and graphene show intriguing field emission images, which do not appear in common metal emitters. In field emission microscopy (FEM) from graphene, peculiar images reflecting π electron orbitals at graphene edges are observed. In this presentation, we focus on field ion microscopy (FIM) of graphene, and report FIM images that reflect the empty orbitals at the graphene edges.
