Strong and broadband spin wave excitation/detection structures are useful for magnonic devices. Therefore, this study proposes a spin-wave excitation antenna structure using a novel substrate. The antenna structure comprises a microstrip line fabricated on a yttrium iron garnet (YIG)/metal/silicon substrate, called a YIG-on-metal (YOM) substrate. Calculations were performed using a three-dimensional finite integration technique and dispersion curves of spin waves. The proposed structure exhibited high performance because of the significantly short distance between the signal line and the ground plane. This work showed the high potential of the proposed antenna for integrated magnonic devices.
