With the development of IoT society, the demand for advanced sensing technology is rapidly increasing in various fields such as agriculture, medical care, and infrastructure. The number of sensors continues to increase year by year, and the electric power supply to all sensors becomes a serious problem. Therefore, the reduction of energy consumption in sensors is crucial. Here, we suggest a new type of a strain sensor based on the magnetoelastic effect. Here, the sensing is performed through the change in the magnetization direction caused by the magnetoelastic effect. Thus, no electric power is needed for either detecting the strain or storing the information that the strain application event is happened.
