Keywords:triptycene derivative, scanning tunneling microscope, photoemission spectroscopy

A triptycene derivative with C3 symmetry, Trip-Phz, deposited on a cleaned Ag(111) substrate, was observed by scanning tunneling microscopy and was found to form a honeycomb lattice. Band calculations based on this structure revealed the presence of flat bands accompanied by Dirac cones. The results of gas phase photoemission spectroscopy and photoemission spectroscopy of a bulk will be also discussed.
