In 2012, Ivanova et al. Reported that the nanostructures present on the wing surface of cicadas exhibit physical antibacterial activity. However, the detailed mechanism by which bacteria are killed by nanostructures has not been clarified. In this study, we aimed to elucidate the sterilization mechanism by simultaneously using observation with a fluorescence microscope and electrochemical measurement.
