We have been studied secret key distribution system based on intensity modulation and direct detection (IM/DD-SKD), assuming a pinPD receiver. On the other hand, it on optically pre-amplified receiver is known to have better performance than a pinPD receiver in conventional optical communications. Here, IM/DD-SKD utilizes noises in for the security, and its system performance depends on receiver noise characteristics. Therefore, this study evaluated the performance of IM/DD-SKD employing an optical pre-amplified receiver and compared it with that of a pinPD receiver system.
