△ [25p-E205-5] Living uniaxial assembly of planar chiral molecule into dendritic single-crystalline micro-vessels
Keywords:Crystal engineering, Self-assembly, Chirality
Self-assembly of planar chiral π-conjugated molecule was carried out on a quartz substrate. The molecule assembled into standing hexagonal vessel-shaped microstructures grown uniaxially and synchronously over the wide area of the substrate with high monodispersity. Crystallographic analysis revealed that the resultant microparticle is a single-crystal grain sculpted dendritic crystal grown manner. The hierarchical dendritic crystal growth mechanism leading to the vessel-shaped structure was proposed. The degree of branching can be modulated by tuning the supersaturation of the feed solution. The edges of the crystals are active even after consumption of the monomers and resume further enantioselective growth with additional feeding of the monomer. The resultant morphology can be packed into polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon-like microarchitectures and behave as a microscopic container.
