[25p-E302-18] Brillouin Sensor Based on Optical Frequency Comb and Heterodyne Detection
Keywords:Brillouin, Heterodyne Detection, Optical Frequency Comb
The strain and temperature sensing using Brillouin scattering of laser light traveling in optical fibers has attracted attention and has been applied to structural health monitoring. A technology integrating an optical frequency comb with the above technique has been reported. It is realized by detecting the frequency shift of the induced Brillouin gain spectrum in the optical frequency domain . In this study, we proposed a method to measure the frequency shift using an electrical spectrum analyzer by the use of heterodyne detection of the Rayleigh scattering of the pump light and the stimulated Brillouin scattering light in order to extend the detection method. It has been experimentally confirmed that the frequency shift of Brillouin gain spectrum can be detected by the proposed method.
