In this research, we explore alternate FE materials with flexibility and ease of fabrication as compared to the inorganic FE materials. We fabricate an ultrathin organic FE polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) using the Langmuir Blodgett (LB) method. Using the LB method, monolayers (with some bilayers) of PVDF (2.5 ~ 5 nm thick) were successfully transferred on conductive Au (111) substrates. Subsequently, conductive AFM (c-AFM) was employed to measure the tunneling current in the monolayer PVDF films.
