[26a-E205-6] Polarization- and deflection-selective light diffusers with extrinsic-stimulative responses, produced by polymer network liquid crystals
Keywords:polymer network liquid crystal, light diffusion, extrinsic-stimulative response
Employing nonuniform irradiation method, we fabricated polarization- and deflection-selective light diffusers composed of polymer network liquid crystals (PNLCs). Furthermore, the properties of the light diffusers can be controlled by extrinsic stimuli. This fabrication method is based on the phenomenon of photopolymerization induced phase separation (PPIPS). During the irradiation of laser light to the raw mixture sandwiched between transparent glass sheets, the PNLC structures of phase separation and orientation order are formed in a manner of self-assembly. Such structures depend on the raw mixture ratio and irradiation condition.
