We are conducting research and development of semiconductor-sensitized thermal cells (STCs) that mimics dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) for the purpose of effectively utilizing waste thermal energy below 200℃, which exists abundantly in Japan. In the STC, the photo-excited charge carriers of the dye in the DSSC is substituted to the thermally excited charge carriers of the semiconductor to cause the ion redox reaction. Therefore, the structure does not require a cooling unit. In this study, we focused on the counter electrode material of the STC and investigated the battery characteristics.
