A basic study was conducted with the aim of screening for brain tumors from blood. Absorption spectra of plasma samples from brain tumor patients and healthy subjects were obtained using mid-infrared attenuation total reflection (ATR) spectroscopy, which does not require sample pretreatment and is highly sensitive. When the measurement protocol for obtaining equal and stable spectra in each sample was determined and the two groups were compared, a clear difference was found. Furthermore, by multivariate analysis of the spectrum, a discriminant that can identify the diseased person was obtained.
