This is the award lecure for the paper titled as "Room-temperature continuous-wave operation of green vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers with a curved mirror fabricated on {20−21} semi-polar GaN" published in Applied Physics Express in 2020 and selected for JSAP Paper Award in 2021. This talk reviews the content apprears in the paper as conitnuous-wave operation at 515 nm with Ith of 1.8 mA for an unique device strcutreus with curved mirror fabricated over backside of {20−21} GaN substrate. This talk also ntroduces the latest progress given after the paper.
