△ [15a-B508-8] Photoluminescence and Excitation Spectroscopy of Tripodal Molecules on Au(111)
Keywords:Photoluminescnece, Self-assembled monolayer, Excitation spectra
Photoluminescence measurement is a powerful technique to study the electronic state of molecules, but it has been difficult to measure it in the vicinity of metals, where electronic excitation states are quenched. In this study, we have successfully measured the photoluminescence and excitation spectra of tetraphenylporphyrin (TPP) derivatives isolated and dispersed on a gold substrate by fabricating a self-assembled monolayer of TPP derivatives consisting of a tripodal molecule (Trip) attached to a TPP molecule. The tripodal molecules were found to function as an anchor to the gold substrate and as an insulating layer to suppress quenching.
