[15p-A304-2] Ultrafast Quantum Computer with Cold Atoms Operating at a Quantum Speed Limit
Keywords:ultrafast quantum computer, cold-atom based quantum computer, quantum speed limit
The cold-atom based ultrafast quantum computer that we are developing is a novel quantum technology based on a completely new concept of combining ultrafast laser technology and quantum computers. In this ultrafast quantum computing, very recently, we have succeeded in executing a controlled-Z gate in only 6.5 nanoseconds. This is the fastest record of a controlled gate, a conditional two-qubit gate essential for quantum computing, faster than any other controlled gates with cold-atom hardware by two orders of magnitude. It is also two orders of magnitude faster than the noise from the external environment and operating lasers, and thus can be safely isolated from the noise that has been seriously affecting the performance of conventional cold-atom hardware.
