▼ [15p-A501-7] Enhanced vertical light extraction in nanobeam photonic crystal nanocavities based on Er,O-codoped GaAs
Keywords:GaAs, Er luminescence, photonic crystal
Quantum communication, storage, and computing show potential as the next-generation information technologies, and have been recently attracting scientific attention. Above all, controllable, stable, and repeatable single photon emitters (SPEs) have been of great significance as an important component of quantum information systems. In this contribution, we employ nanobeam PhC to obtain highly enhanced Er luminescence and realize vertical emission, laying the foundation for the implementation of SPEs for off-chip applications. Nanobeam PhC nanocavities with GaAs:Er,O as an active component are prepared, and the enhancement of Er luminescence brought by nanocavities is investigated. ~19-fold enhancement of the Er luminescence is obtained. Numerical simulations of the PhC nanobeam cavities are carried out using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method to optimize the far-field distribution by exploiting the band-folding effect for vertical emission and improving collection efficiency, and vertical light extraction is realized. For an objective lens with NA=0.42, the collection efficiency reaches ~21.9%, which is ~10,000 times higher than the original collection efficiency.
