[15p-D311-7] Quantum PET Research: Positron Lifetime Measurement Using 124I
Keywords:Positron emission tomography, Quantum PET, Positron lifetime measurement
In this study, we focused on the nuclide 124I, which is available on the Supply Platform of Short-lived Radioisotopes, and investigated its potential use for the new concept "quantum PET", which is diagnostic imaging using ortho-positronium (o-Ps) lifetime. A pair of PET detectors measured 124I aqueous solutions with different electron densities. We compared the timing spectra treating 603 keV prompt gamma-ray detection as the start and the 511 keV photon detection as the stop. There was a negative correlation between the electron density in the 124I aqueous solution and o-Ps lifetime. We showed that the PET detectors could detect the correlation.
