[15p-PA01-40] Structure and magnetic properties of epitaxial Fe-Ga thin films
Keywords:Fe-Ga, Magnetostriction, Epitaxial growth
A previous study reported strong magnon-phonon coupling in the surface patterned Fe-Ga films. However, the previous study did not focus on the fundamental magnetic properties including magnetostrictions for the epitaxial Fe-Ga thin films. This study reports the effect of Ga concentration on structure and magnetic properties of epitaxial Fe-Ga films deposited on GaAs(001) and MgO(001) single crystal substrates. The epitaxial Fe-Ga films grown on GaAs(001) and MgO(001) show larger magnetostriction than the polycrystalline Fe-Ga films on the thermally-oxidized Si substrates. Saturation magnetostriction in the Fe-Ga [110] direction reaches a maximum of 145 ppm for Fe70Ga30 deposited on MgO(001), which is of the same order as that of bulk Fe-Ga.
