[15p-PA03-6] Electron-Assisted Deposition Polymerization of p-Hexadecylstyrene
Keywords:Deposition Polymerization
Thin films of an alkylstyrene compound C16Sty were prepared by an electron-assisted (E-assist) vapor deposition method. The conventional vapor deposition yielded polycrystalline thin films consisting of C16Sty monomers, while the E-assist method induced polymerization of C16Sty. The film became amorphous as a consequence of polymerization. The C16Sty film deposited under a moderate E-assist condition had a surface energy of 27.0 mJ/m2. It is concluded that the E-assist deposition of C16Sty is a promising method for preparing low-energy surface.
