Magnetochiral (MCh) effects known as directional birefringence for unpolarized electromagnetic waves are induced in a system with magnetism and chirality. We have demonstrated giant MCh effects by a single metamolecule with spontaneous magnetization. However, the metamolecule has a large insertion loss. Reduction of the loss is preferable for the practical applications of the MCh effects.
In this presentation, we show that a toroidal metamolecule with spontaneous magnetization has giant MCh effects with low insertion loss and discuss the physics behind the MCh effects.
