[15p-PB06-23] Role of Metamaterial on Thermoelectric Conversion in Uniform Temperature Environment

We have developed a metamaterial thermoelectric conversion device driven under a uniform temperature environment. Metamaterials, which is attached to one end of the thermoelectric conversion element, absorb thermal radiation and generate heat. This phenomenon creates a temperature gradient in the device even in a uniform temperature environment, and enables thermoelectric power generation. Through comparison with carbon black, which is a typical absorber, we have confirmed that metamaterials are necessary for thermoelectric conversion device driven in a uniform temperature environment in terms of efficient collection of thermal energy and local heat transfer.
