[16a-A405-3] Enhancement factor of criticality in semiconductor lasers with delayed feedback

In the semiconductor lasers with delayed feedback, intermittent burst-like oscillation characterized by power-law distributions peculiar to critical phenomena can occur under a certain condition. In the context of self-organized critical phenomena, the criticality of such behavior can be enhanced by the reduction of internal dissipation. Focusing on the carrier lifetime, we show that a similar argument holds for laser systems.
