Silver dendritic crystals with fractal structures are self-grown by the reduction of silver ions in solution. Fractal geometries are characterised by fractal dimension and size, which can vary depending on the fabrication conditions. However, growing large needle-like structures is difficult. In this study, silver nanoseeds were used under 405 nm irradiation to grow silver dendritic fractal structures. Silver nano-seeds were matched to plasmon resonances consistent with the irradiated light. The dependence of seed concentration and irradiation wavelength on the overall size and the formation of silver dendritic fractal structures was investigated. The results showed that the needle-like fractal structures grew significantly under 405 nm light to more than 100 µm and more than four generations.
