[16a-PA01-3] Fabrication of plasmonic optical fibers toward optical trapping of nanoparticles
Keywords:Localized surface plasmon, Gold nanoparticles, Optical fiber tweezers
Optical trapping of nanoparticles at interfaces such as the liquid-liquid interface shows interesting photochemical and photophysical behaviors. Plasmonic optical fiber tweezers will become a powerful tool for nanoparticle manipulation. In the present study, we fabricated plasmonic optical fibers on which the synthesized gold nanospheres were deposited at the end of an optical fiber using a silane coupling agent. Gold nanostructures on the optical fiber were evaluated by means of the scanning electron microscope (SEM) and electromagnetic simulations, showing gap-mode localized surface plasmon. Irradiation of a near-infrared laser beam to excite the plasmon led to the accumulation of polystyrene microspheres around the tip of the optical fiber. On the day of the presentation, we discuss the trapping behaviors of polystyrene nanospheres with fabricated optical fibers.
