Photonic crystal surface emitting lasers (PCSEL) operating in the wavelength range of 1.4-2.6 µm will be expected of LiDAR for automotive application. We fabricated an InP-based photonic crystal surface emitting laser operating at 1.5 µm wavelength range, and demonstrated laser operation at room temperature.
