[16p-A303-6] Digital holography of underwater heated gold nanoparticles
Keywords:digital holography
Laser irradiation of gold nanoparticles in water causes deformation of the gold nanoparticles and heating of the surrounding water, resulting in a change in refractive index. With sufficient heating, the water vaporizes, producing bubbles. We are attempting to observe a series of physical processes using pump-and-probe digital holography. First, using digital holography and Fourier transform methods, we will establish observations of the behavior of gold nanoparticles heated by a CW near-infrared laser on a millisecond time scale.
