We have investigated the control of Eu luminescent sites to increase the brightness of a Eu-doped GaN red LED, which is a key technology for small and ultrahigh-definition micro LEDs. Eu-doped GaN has at least eight types of Eu luminescent sites with different excitation efficiencies. In addition to photoluminescence evaluation on them, we introduce fluorescence X-ray holography (XFH) evaluation using synchrotron radiation.
