Light in the mid-infrared wavelength region is expected to be used for various applications such as infrared fluorescence analysis and infrared quantum communications. On the other hand, there are few single-photon detectors with high performance in the mid-infrared region. In this study, we investigate the possibility of single-photon spectroscopic detection in the mid-infrared region using a superconducting transition edge sensor (TES) with high energy resolution. Mid-infrared photons from blackbody radiation sources at various temperatures were introduced into the TES, and good agreement with theoretical blackbody radiation spectra was obtained.
