[16p-B309-2] Elucidation of chemical states of iron-group metal catalysts during growth of SWCNT by in situ XAFS measurement
Keywords:carbon nanotube, XAFS, CVD
Understanding the growth mechanism of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) is important for structural control, and in situ measurements are essential to determine the catalyst state during SWCNT formation in particular. We have previously discussed the chemical state of Co catalysts during SWCNT growth by in situ X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) measurements. In this study, we performed XAFS measurements on other iron group catalysts, Fe and Ni, to compare the chemical states of the three catalysts and discuss the differences in the SWCNT growth mechanism for each catalyst.
