The Single-Direction Melt Growth (SDMG) method is a newly developed fabrication method where RE123 melt-textured bulks are directly grown from the large seed plate cut from commercial RE’123 bulks with a higher peritectic temperature than RE123. SDMG processed bulks consist of only one grain growth region and, hence, whole a-grown bulks, which few studies have been conducted thus far, can be obtained by SDMG. In this study, we aimed to investigate detailed superconducting properties and microstructure of the entirely a-grown Dy123 melt-textured bulks.
