In the decommissioning step of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, a scintillator with high light yield and long wavelengths of above 650 nm are required for the dose-rate monitoring system. In this study, we investigated the scintillation properties for Cr3+-doped Gd3Ga5O12, which is known to be red and near-infrared emitting and Ce co-doping samples. We discuss these results including the effect of Ce co-doping and report a demonstration test of the monitoring system with these red scintillators.
