Keywords:Thermoelectric material, half-Heusler

Half-Heusler alloy TiNiSn, which is composed of low toxicity elements, is known to exhibit n-type thermoelectric properties and to have a relatively high power factor (PF). First-principles calculations have also shown that TiNiSn exhibits PF values close to those of n-type even in p-type, suggesting its potential use as a thermoelectric material with both thermoelectric properties. In this study, in order to change the thermoelectric properties of TiNiSn to p-type, TiNiSn substituted with Co, which has fewer valence electrons than Ni, was prepared and its thermoelectric properties were measured in the range from 400 K to 800 K.
